Our project is a pioneering, community-driven initiative dedicated to tackling plastic and solid waste pollution in the critical biodiversity hotspots of the Konkan region.

What began as a modest effort five years ago has grown into a powerful movement, now operating across the Chiplun, Khed, and Guhagar blocks of Ratnagiri district. Our core belief is that conservation thrives only when the local community is actively involved. We focus on creating sustainable solutions that not only clean up the environment but also empower local communities through education and livelihood generation.

By partnering with us, you are supporting a replicable model that turns waste into resources, protects delicate ecosystems from plastic waste, and lays the foundation for long-term behavioural change.

Our Process: From Waste to Resource

We implement a comprehensive, ‘reduce, reuse, recycle, recover’ strategy through a systematic, three-pronged approach:

ActivityDescription
AwarenessTargeted campaigns focused on plastic waste literacy, source segregation, and promoting long-term behavioral change through community meets, print, and digital outreach.
Daily & Weekly CollectionOur dedicated team provides structured, door-to-door plastic waste collection from thousands of households, shops, and markets.
Sustainable LogisticsCollection is supported by a dedicated fleet of electric and CNG vehicles, prioritizing environmental sustainability.
Public Access PointsWe have installed 69 plastic waste collection cages across three talukas for convenient public disposal.
Home CompostingWe distribute and provide training on home composting units, empowering households to convert kitchen waste into fertilizer.
Society CompostingWe establish and support composting units within large housing societies to manage wet waste at the institutional level (3 Units currently active).
Community Outreach & ActionWe drive collective action and long-term behavioural change through extensive community engagement. Our programs range from interactive workshops and hands-on clean-up drives to large-scale initiatives like:
ActivityDescription
Scientific SegregationAll collected plastic is meticulously sorted at our central facility into 7 different categories to maximize material recovery.
High-Tech InfrastructureWe continually upgrade our capacity with advanced machines, including a baling machine, and the region’s first Thermocol (EPS) melting machine.
Upcycling for LivelihoodsNon-recyclable Multi-layered Plastic (MLP) is transformed by rural artisans using a handloom into durable products like bags and purses, generating local livelihood opportunities.
ActivityDescription
My Sustainability CornerSchool-Based Empowerment: Our targeted program reaches thousands of students annually to instill plastic literacy and segregation skills. To promote active participation, students are incentivized to collect clean plastic from their homes.
Community MobilizationWe drive collective action through interactive workshops, community clean-up drives, and dedicated women-focused programs (like the Home Minister Program).
Creative OutreachWe drive collective action and long-term behavioral change through extensive community engagement. Our programs utilize interactive workshops, hands-on clean-up drives, and engaging public events—such as drama competitions, educational trips, and high-visibility displays at large-scale initiatives like the Chiplun Half Marathon—to reinforce learning and sustainable habits in a memorable way.
