The Whitebellied Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) is thinly but widely distributed and is listed as vulnerable in the Indian Red Data Book.
There was no data available on the status of this species hence SNM carried out the survey along the 164 km coastline of Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra during 1996-97 and 1997-98. Our team located 62 nests during this survey. Read Sea Eagle – Ratnagiri district report.
