Budget: ₹68 Lakh | Duration: 3 Years
Improper dry waste management in rural areas of Ratnagiri district has led to
open dumping, burning, and waste entering rivers and agricultural lands,
causing environmental degradation and public health risks. The Clean Village
Program aims to establish a structured dry waste collection, segregation, and
recycling system across 20 villages in the Konkan region. The project will
deploy a dedicated collection vehicle, set up a processing centre, and
implement monthly cluster-based waste collection supported by large-scale
community awareness campaigns and Gram Panchayat engagement.
Over three years, the initiative targets diversion of approximately 220 MT of
dry waste from open dumping, processing 5–7 MT per month, generating
recyclable revenue to support sustainability, and creating local livelihoods.
The program will result in cleaner village landscapes, reduced pollution,
improved public health, and strengthened community participation in
responsible waste management practices.
