Devrai are traditional sacred groves protected by communities for generations. These forest patches conserve native biodiversity, support wildlife, and reflect a deep cultural connection between people and nature. In the Konkan region, rapid land-use changes have led to the decline of such ecosystems, making their revival increasingly important.

Through the Devrai initiative, Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra is working to restore degraded land into self-sustaining forest ecosystems rooted in tradition, ecology, and community participation.
