Shaydri Nisarga Mitra has always explored various ways to generating alternate livelihood options for the locals through conservation centric activities. Sahyadri adapted a formal process to set up micro enterprises based on the mapping of the available skills and tourists / market demand. The process has the following stages:

Initiate
•Identify need of locals
•Identify groups willing to participate
•Build skill matrix of locals through surveys
Develop
•Identify gaps in available skills and market demand
•Set guide lines for the production / service rendering
•Train the target group depending on skill matrix
Execute
•Provide seed funding
•Initiate production of the identified / service rendering
Assess
•Assess the product / service roll out
•Depending on the assessment make changes if required
